INTRODUCTION:

The writing had been on the wall for some years, the Dover service was finally withdrawn apart from a 4 week spell on Summer Saturdays. This train was also now routed via the West Coast mainline.

Almost no change on the Brighton services apart from the Sunday train from Scotland which now started from Glasgow Central instead of Edinburgh. The Summer Saturday services continued to run to and from Eastbourne.

Once again during the summer the Brighton services ran via Redhill and Guildford.
